Gifted Education

Gifted Services and Information

The Gifted Coordinators at the Licking Regional Educational Service Center work with the county's school districts to identify and serve gifted students in grades K through 12.

Our office helps districts identify students as gifted through group and individual testing, helps plan available gifted services and match students to those services using district criteria. In addition, our office coordinates enrichment activities, as described below.

Gifted Coordinators provide professional development to educators and are available to answer questions from parents, teachers, administrators, and community members. For more information about gifted identification, services, and acceleration in the state of Ohio and in Licking County, please see the documents below.


(Referral/Permission is for the following school districts - Granville, Heath, Johnstown, Lakewood, Licking Heights, Licking Valley, Newark, North Fork, Northern Local & Zanesville)  

(Early Entrance to Kindergarten testing is for the following school districts - Franklin Local, Granville, Heath, Johnstown, Lakewood, Licking Heights, Licking Valley, & Newark, Northern Local, North Fork)

Model policy for the referral, assessment, and placement of students in accelerated educational options including early entrance to Kindergarten or first grade, whole grade acceleration, subject acceleration, and early graduation
Please contact your local school district's Gifted Coordinator for information about identification procedures and available services for gifted students in your district.
 

Call for Gifted Artists, Dancers, Actors, and Musicians

The Gifted Coordinators at the Licking Regional Educational Service Center work with the county's school districts to identify and serve gifted students in grades K through 12.

The Licking Regional Educational Service Center's Gifted Department is requesting nominations for potential gifted identification in the Visual and Performing Arts in the areas of painting, sculpting, drawing, vocal music, instrumental music, dance, and/or drama.  Students in grades K-12 are eligible for nomination.  Parents, teachers, or students themselves may nominate possible candidates to go through the evaluation process.  The referral form for Visual and Performing Arts nomination should be available from your school's building office or can quickly be found on the Licking Regional Educational Service Center's website at  https://www.lresc.org/VisualandPerformingArts.aspx.
